Acting President Elayne Hayes-Anthony, Ph.D. reflects on Jackson State University’s recognition as a 2023 Fulbright HBCU Institutional Leader.  She discusses how Fulbright helps her university, located in Jackson, Mississippi, to advance its strategic goals and how Fulbright experiences impact JSU students and faculty. JSU understands the benefits of engagement with the Fulbright Program – 2023 is the third time it has been recognized by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs as a Fulbright HBCU Institutional Leader.  JSU faculty and graduating students pursue Fulbright awards to study or teach abroad, the university has hosted Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs), Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence, and Fulbright Outreach Lecturing Fund participants.  These opportunities are a means for faculty and staff to internationalize curriculum and for everyone on campus to enhance global awareness. In 2022-23, JSU celebrated three faculty members who received Fulbright U.S. Scholar Awards.
